Muddy Woody 2010 Posted by Jo Click here for photos. For results go to www.wyevalleyrunners.co.uk

Muddy WoodyThe Muddy Woody is named very aptly. Despite the word at the start was 'it's not that muddy' I beg to differ. Instead of the usual sloppy mud it was sticky, gloopy, running in clay shoes type of mud.....my favorite! Actually I mean it, gloopier the better, not being a speed merchant but quite stubborn, I love the challenge. We had a great turnout, this being a 3 line whip race...not that it took that much persuading the Hay Hotfooters who came, that may well have been the lure of dinner, or the pink finishers Tshirt, but that's another story.

Hay HotfootersMordiford Bridge was shut so we all set off early so as not to miss the start (it has been known, just ask Alan H) The race ended up being delayed anyway so we had a very pleasant time in the sunshine (yes sunshine!) Amongst the HH runners were a couple of Muddy Woody virgins, no matter what Ange said she will be back next year! As I mentioned before it was muddy and we all had an awful lot of it to remove (using the hot water supplied by Shaun and Ange, so organised) before going to the Pub.

Now it was Valentines day so some HHers felt the need to indulge in oysters. Well there were several techniques used for the consumption of said oysters, probably more discussion on the technique of eating them than running the race its self!
